Sun Salutation Vibration

Join The Yoga Womb for 108 Sun Salutations to honor the sun and raise money for The Yoga Womb at sunrise on Summer Solstice in Sunset Park.

How do I sign up?

Option #1: Register online and pay $54 per person.

Option #2: Download the pledge form and collect a minimum of 5 pledges for the number of sun salutations you plan to do!

Do I have to do 108 sun salutations?

No. You can do as many as you’d like, but once you’re out, you’re out!

Additionally, don’t forget that you can modify! Instead of doing a full chattarunga every time, you can bring your knees down. Instead of an updog do a cobra, instead of a downdog do a childspose. This is a marathon, not a race, so pace yourself!

What does the money support?

The Yoga Womb, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to improve the overall wellness of our community, and the world by making holistic mind, body and spirit wellness services and education available to everyone. The money raised will support operations, scholarships, free community classes, and free trauma-informed classes for specific groups like domestic violence survivors, people struggling with addiction, kids and people working hard to make major transformations in their life.

What is a sun salutation?

Sun Salutation, also called Surya Namaskar or Salute to the Sun, incorporates a flow sequence of some twelve linked asanas. The focus is on your breath creating a meditation in motion in honor of the Sun. When practiced in harmony with other yogis, the vibration is palpable!

Why 108?

The number 108 is considered sacred in many cultures and religions. 108 is often used in practices like sun salutations and chanting mantras, as it's believed to represent completion and connection to the universe. Some interpretations link 108 to cosmic energy and divine connection, particularly in relation to the sun, moon, and Earth.
